When signing up my 3 year old for tee ball this year, I knew we were going to be in for a treat. What I didn’t expect was to be helping out with coaching as well. My husband was recruited as the head coach, and by default I was his assistant because, well, marriage.
“We got this!” I told him. We were going to make tee ball great again!
Pan to our first practice…
This is not what I signed up for! Who made a league for 3 year olds to play baseball?? And what parent signs their 3 year old up!? (ME—Mommy Jerk 🙋🏼♀️)
All of the kids on the team are great and so sweet! They never fail to put a smile on my face. But I quickly found out that I can’t even make my own child participate, let alone anyone else’s.
One thing I found helpful is they LOVE to run the bases. It doesn’t matter if you’re on offense or defense, they’re running!
Fielding was a little more challenging.
So challenging in fact, that my own child on opening day, lay down face first in the dirt at short stop, and began repeatedly beating her head into the ground.
What can you do? 🤷🏼♀️
The most important thing is that the kids have fun! And they do, I think.
Until then, only 16 more games to go!
